In challenging times, acts of compassion become beacons of hope and solace. Amidst the pandemic, our biscuits emerged as messengers of kindness, spreading comfort and joy to those grappling with uncertainty. It was at this time that we embarked on an extraordinary journey to uplift spirits and bring smiles to those in need; one biscuit at a time.

Back in 2016, Saskia and I established our home bakery, mainly catering to businesses with logo biscuits. However, when the pandemic struck, our corporate orders ceased.

Driven by our desire to make a difference, the Kindness Biscuit Campaign was born. We initiated a mission to distribute free biscuits to individuals facing hardships, offering them a simple yet meaningful gesture of support.

Through our website and social media platforms, we encouraged people to nominate deserving recipients who could benefit from a sweet surprise. Our call touched so many people's hearts, and as a result countless nominations poured in, highlighting frontline workers, vulnerable communities, and individuals facing personal challenges during the pandemic.

Each biscuit gift was meticulously crafted with love and attention to detail. Embossed with encouraging messages like “Miss you,” “Thinking of you,” “Stay Safe,” and “Hugs & Kisses,” our hand-made jam biscuits carried heartfelt sentiments. A personalised gift note accompanied every package, conveying the sender's message beyond the sweetness of the gift.

From the moment the recipients received their packages, they felt the warmth and compassion emanating from the biscuits. These treats symbolised more than mere indulgence; they represented a united community offering support and kindness in the face of adversity.

The impact of the Kindness Biscuit Campaign proved profound. Recipients expressed gratitude, sharing heartwarming stories of how the gesture lifted their spirits and reminded them that they were not alone in their struggles. Our biscuits transcended the status of a simple treat; they became symbols of hope, resilience, and human connection.

Gratitudesday

Even beyond the pandemic, our commitment to spreading kindness persisted. We decided to continue the scheme with a few changes, sending out a limited amount of free Thank You biscuits every Tuesday, which we now call “Gratitudesday.” On this day, we encourage people to practice gratitude and express appreciation to others in the sweetest way possible—through biscuits that come with a heartfelt gift note and free postage.

What if businesses championed kindness?

This experience transformed our perception of our product. Today, we utilise our platform to raise awareness about other acts of kindness happening in the community. We share stories of individuals and organisations going above and beyond to help others, inspiring a ripple effect of kindness and motivating others to take action.

The Kindness Biscuit Campaign illuminated the incredible power of a simple act of generosity. The biscuits brought comfort, joy, and a sense of togetherness to those who needed it most. This initiative not only made a tangible difference in individual lives but also ignited a broader movement of kindness and compassion within the community.

As we navigate through uncertain times, let us never forget the impact of even the smallest acts of kindness. The Biskery's journey stands as a testament to the transformative power of spreading kindness—one biscuit at a time. Together, we can sow seeds of compassion and build a world where kindness prevails.
