An independent organisation has scrutinised how we source, bake and run The Biskery – and confirmed that our biscuits are as full of ethics as they are of flavour.

Biscuits rarely come with a report card, but The Good Shopping Guide just handed ours back with a gold star. As we are now officially awarded a full Ethical Accreditation and a top-tier rating in the Biscuits Ethical Comparison Chart, placing us among the Top 200 Ethical Businesses in the UK!

Ethical accredition for The Biskery awareded by The Good Shopping Guide

Sustainability baked into the recipe

From day one, sustainability has been a design principle, not a bolt-on.
The Good Shopping Guide highlights our use of renewable energy in the bakery, bake-to-order production to minimise waste, and the choice of British flour and free-range eggs, all contributing to a top rating across its Environmental criteria.

Our packaging choices were equally important: recycled and fully recyclable gift boxes, plus compostable and biodegradable materials wherever possible.
These small, constant decisions are the behind-the-scenes work that turned “we want to do better” into measurable ethical performance.

People, kindness and the way we work

Kindness is not only what goes inside the biscuit box; it is how the workplace is built.

The Good Shopping Guide recognises The Biskery as an ethical employer, with top ratings in its People-related criteria and specific praise for promoting well-being and women’s participation in the workforce.

Alongside this, the brand has been awarded a top rating in the Ethical Innovator category, a badge reserved for businesses pushing ethical standards forward in their sector.
For a small bakery without a retail shopfront and a largely B2B model, this recognition validates years of quietly doing things the right way behind the scenes.

How our score compares in the biscuit aisle

Within the Good Shopping Guide’s Biscuit Comparison Table, The Biskery sits at the top end of the scoring range, significantly above notably Biscuiteers and others in the category.
Against many household-name biscuit brands, our ethical score stands out, particularly in environmental performance and the absence of negative public record criticisms.

We are still on a journey, but this rating confirms that the overall direction of travel is strongly positive.
For customers, it offers an independent, data-backed reason to feel confident that our biscuit gifts align with our values as much as their brand guidelines.

Why this accreditation matters to us

This accreditation tells the story of how co-founders Lisa & Saskia chose to build a business where sustainability, social impact and operational integrity sit at the core of the business, not just in the marketing department.
From weekly free kindness biscuits to long-term relationships with corporate clients, every project now carries the endorsement of an Ethical Brand seal that reflects the values behind the biscuit.

Ethical Accrediation for The Biskery

Most of all, the high score is a moment of validation: proof that the hard, slow work of better choices – in energy, ingredients, packaging and people – adds up to real, recognised change.
And as more brands look for partners who can help them show appreciation to their stakeholders in a genuinely ethical way, this accreditation from The Good Shopping Guide is another powerful marker for them.
