In celebration of National Gratitude Month, we're thrilled to partner with Blessed Before You’re Dressed (BBYD), by adding one of their thank-you postcards to each Gratitudesday Thank You Biscuit.
BBYD is the gratitude mantra created by Yorkshire business owner Zoë Bishop, with the goal of bringing gratitude into your daily life from the moment you wake up.
This week, Zoë shares her gratitude journey with us, along with her top tips for cultivating daily gratitude.
A Journey to Everyday Gratitude
For me, gratitude started early in life. Growing up, expressing thanks was a staple in my household, especially after birthdays and holidays when thank-you notes were a must. But it wasn’t until adulthood that I began to see how transformative this simple habit could be.
Over the years, gratitude kept appearing in my life—in self-development courses, my church community, productivity tools, and a Gratitude Challenge I joined. Each of these reinforced the joy gratitude brings, helping me see life from a fresh perspective. I found that by starting each day with a grateful heart, I could reframe my mindset, entering the day feeling truly “blessed before I’m dressed.”
This mantra first appeared in a piece I wrote for Chris Palmore’s Gratitude Journey, Volume 3. The positive response to that line inspired me to share this mindset with others, leading to the creation of BBYD daily posts on LinkedIn every day since 1st June 2023 and the launch of our dedicated website in September.
Gratitude Meets Gratitudesday
One of my goals with BBYD is to make gratitude both accessible and enjoyable. That’s why I’m thrilled to be collaborating with The Biskery on their Gratitudesday initiative this month. Every Tuesday in November, you can nominate someone special to receive a beautiful, complimentary Thank You Biscuit along with a BBYD Thank You postcard. I love that this collaboration brings together two Yorkshire-based businesses led by inspiring “mum-preneurs,” and I’m honoured that BBYD can be part of such a unique expression of gratitude.
In addition to Gratitudesday, I’d like to share three simple tips for practising gratitude that you can incorporate into your daily routine:
-
Morning Gratitude: As soon as you wake up, think of one thing you’re grateful for—whether it’s a new day, cosy slippers by your bed, or the promise of a cup of tea.
-
Mindful Moments: During the day, pause to appreciate small things around you—a flower, a smile, or a sunny sky. These little joys can change your perspective.
-
End-of-Day Reflection: Before you go to sleep, recall one blessing from the day. Let that thought be your final one as you drift off.
I hope these tips make a positive difference in your life!
