International Women’s Day is always an occasion to celebrate women with online posts of appreciation and awe.
Many individuals and businesses feel inclined to shout about what they do to improve the lives of women. Some are genuine, some are virtue signalling as a marketing gimmick.
The Biskery was founded and is run by women.
Working with a team of women every day is an absolute privilege. Being able to create roles, and a work environment that they enjoy and thrive in has to be one of the best things about running a business. When women support each other, magical things happen.
That's why as of March 8th, International Women’s Day 2023, we are taking our support for women to the next level!
We are proud to announce our new partnership with the incredible charity Women's Lives Leeds!
Women’s Lives Leeds is a unique alliance of twelve organisations from across Leeds. Their mission is to empower girls and women in our city.
Their partners all have different areas they focus on, Whether you are a student who recently moved to Leeds, migrant in Leeds, a domestic violence or rape victim, or are experiencing menopause and the difficulties that can come with that, Women’s Lives Leeds will be able to support you. Their overall aim is to improve the lives of women and girls in our city, and make it safer for us. One of their missions is to make Leeds the first official Women-friendly city in the UK, and we are proud to be ambassadors for this goal!
One year to the day, our co-founder Lisa attended an event organised by Women's Lives Leeds, for International Women's Day.
It was an evening of music, poetry, storytelling. The room was full of women rooting for each other. There was so much support, and a complete lack of the often-toxic comparison.
It left a profound impact on Lisa, and she vouched there and then to support this charity. That combined with Saskia's firm belief that supporting local charities creates the deepest impact, made this partnership an easy choice.
So here we are. We could not be prouder to support this charity in whichever way we can, and to shout about the amazing work they do for girls and women in Leeds.
Please give them a follow here, here or here.
Excited to share the different ways in which we will collaborate over the next few months.
